Sell my car in Vancouver WA or the Portland metro — Westlie Ford in Washougal serves both sides of the river
If you're in Vancouver, Camas, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Hazel Dell, or Salmon Creek, our Westlie Ford Buy Center is right here in Washougal — about fifteen minutes east on Highway 14. If you're in Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Gresham, or Oregon City, we're roughly thirty minutes away depending on the bridge. Bud Clary's fourteen-store PNW network sits behind every offer, which is the structural reason we usually pay more than Carvana, CarMax, or any single-store dealer in the Portland metro.

Why our offer usually beats Carvana, CarMax, and Vroom in the Portland metro
Online buyers compete on convenience. They're good at it. The trade-off is in the offer.
When Carvana or CarMax buys your vehicle, the exit math is fixed: their algorithm pays what their generic used-car flow supports. Single-store dealers in the Portland metro face the same constraint — they only sell what fits their lot.
When Westlie Ford buys your Vancouver or Portland-area vehicle, the routing decision is wider. A Toyota goes to a Bud Clary Toyota store. A Honda goes to a Bud Clary Honda store. A Ram goes to Auburn CDJR. A Subaru goes to Bud Clary Subaru. A Ford stays right here at Westlie or routes to Bud Clary Ford in Longview. Each franchise-eligible vehicle gets its manufacturer Certified Pre-Owned program, which captures premium that wholesale and auction don't access.
That CPO uplift — typically a $1,500 to $3,000 retail premium — is only available at the brand's franchise. Carvana and CarMax can't access it. We can. That's the structural reason our Portland-metro offers usually come in higher.
We're not always higher. On rare vehicles in soft markets, the algorithmic buyers overshoot. We'll tell you when that happens. Bring their quote and we'll compare side by side.
What WA and OR sellers should know about cross-border title and tax
This is where most sellers get tripped up, and where local knowledge actually matters.
If you're an Oregon seller selling a vehicle to a Washington dealer
Oregon doesn't have sales tax, but Washington does. When we buy your Oregon-titled vehicle as a Washington dealer, the sale doesn't trigger Washington use tax for you because you're the seller, not the buyer. The transaction is straightforward: we cut you a check, take possession of the vehicle, and handle the WA dealer-to-DOL paperwork on our end.
If you're a Washington seller selling a vehicle to us
Standard WA dealer purchase. We handle the title transfer at the WA Department of Licensing. If you have a loan, we coordinate the payoff with your lender. If you've recently moved to WA from another state, the title is probably already converted; if not, we work with WA DOL on that side.
Emissions
If your vehicle is Oregon-titled and currently registered, DEQ status doesn't affect our purchase decision. We're a Washington dealer; we resell the vehicle in WA or to whichever Bud Clary store the routing decision puts it.
Plates
WA and OR plates stay with the seller (they don't transfer to us). Drop them off at your nearest WA DOL or OR DMV office, or hand them to us and we'll dispose of them properly.
If anything in your situation is non-standard (out-of-state title, prior salvage, lost title, lien with a credit union you don't usually deal with), we sort it. We do this every day.
What it looks like in practice
You start with the instant-offer tool above. About a minute later, you have a real number tied to our Westlie Ford Buy Center.
If you accept, two options:
Bring it to us
Westlie Ford is in Washougal, fifteen minutes east of Vancouver on Highway 14, thirty minutes from most of the Portland metro. We verify the vehicle and cut you a check in about thirty minutes. We handle the WA DOL paperwork on our end.
We come to you
Mobile acquisition is available throughout Clark County WA and the entire Portland metro on the Oregon side: Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Gresham, Oregon City, Milwaukie, Tualatin, Wilsonville, plus Vancouver, Camas, Battle Ground, Ridgefield. Same paperwork, same check, no leaving the house.
Lien on the vehicle, lost title, or stuck with paperwork? Handled.
If your vehicle has a loan, we coordinate the payoff with your lender directly — whether it's a Washington credit union, an Oregon credit union, a captive lender, or a national bank. You don't make the call.
If you've lost the title, we work with the relevant DMV on the replacement. WA DOL for WA-titled vehicles, OR DMV for OR-titled vehicles. If the vehicle was inherited, we work with the documentation you have and walk you through what's needed.
If you have negative equity rolling into a next vehicle purchase, we walk you through what's actually possible.
What we typically buy from Vancouver and Portland-metro sellers
Half-tons and three-quarter-ton trucks. AWD wagons (Subaru Outback, Forester). Mid-size and full-size SUVs (CR-V, RAV4, Pilot, Highlander, 4Runner, Tahoe). The steady stream of compact and mid-size sedans that make up the daily I-5 and I-205 traffic. Work vans and box trucks (we work with small businesses upgrading their fleet).
We buy any year, any mileage, any condition. Lost title, missing keys, branded title, mechanical issues — all in scope.
